Moving In...Finally!

After almost nine full weeks, the McKenzie family is no longer homeless. We are settling into our apartment on post, and we could not be more thrilled. I have a kitchen again – a fully stocked kitchen! It’s been incredible. I have missed cooking so much. Our first night here, the wife of someone in Jake’s unit made us a homemade lasagna for dinner and brought it over (with wine, beer, and cookies!). I have felt more like a “family” in this unit than any other before. Everyone here has been so lovely and so helpful. Neighbors have stopped us in the stairwell to introduce themselves and gone out of their way to let us know that they are available for anything we could need.
New friends have texted congratulating us on our move, checking in on us, and inviting us to dinner soon. This community has welcomed us with open arms! My heart is full with appreciation for the welcome we have received. We still need to paint some accent walls in the apartment, and then hang things. Our final shipment comes tomorrow. It’s mostly décor, towels, etc. It was actually supposed to be delivered first, but that’s PCS for you! I already feel really settled, so I’m perfectly content to wait on the final shipment. It’s going to look so homey in here when I’m done! I can’t wait to get my coffee/tea bar set up!
Bella has already made a friend in the building. She’s settling in so well. She starts school August 26 and then volleyball that weekend. Jack Jack is settling in great as well! He’s napping SO much better than he did in the hotel! He isn’t really sure what to think of all this space to play in, and all of the toys that arrived with our stuff! I can’t wait for him to get to play with the rocking horse that he got from Mrs. Amy! It comes tomorrow!
That’s really all of the update that I have. We go to the Bavarian Alps in two weeks, Paris in ten weeks, Poland in 15 weeks, and my parents get here in 19 weeks! I absolutely CANNOT wait for Christmas markets in Germany. If you have any recommendations for places we MUST travel (England is happening next June, Croatia, Slovenia, Budapest, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Greece, and Italy are on our list – so any cities there or any other countries you would recommend), shoot me a message! We have three years of travel and lots of “short” weeks at Bella’s school that we plan on taking full advantage of. It’s INCREDIBLE how inexpensive it is to travel here. I can’t wait to experience all that we can while we are on this great adventure! Here’s to the McKenzie Clan taking over Europe!
